About Us:
WOW! Factor Desserts is a leading producer of premium desserts, catering to clients across Canada. This is an exciting opportunity to join our company in a brand-new role and department. As the first Human Resources Generalist, you will play a pivotal role in building our HR infrastructure from the ground up, including creating documentation, employment contracts, and other HR forms from scratch.
About the role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Generalist to join our team. This role will focus on supporting various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, payroll, and organizational development. The ideal candidate will be passionate about people and have a strong understanding of HR best practices.
At WOW! Factor Desserts, culture is paramount. This role requires someone who can champion our organizational values by quarterbacking and coordinating team events, social gatherings, and celebrations. Over time, you may help facilitate committees for initiatives such as evening socials, holiday gifts, and other employee engagement activities.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Build and establish the HR department from scratch, including creating documentation, employment contracts, and HR policies and procedures.
- Champion the company culture by organizing and coordinating team events, social gatherings, and celebrations.
- Facilitate and support employee committees for initiatives like evening socials, holiday gifts, and other engagement activities.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial labor laws and regulations, and company policies through effective documentation and processes.
- Create, implement, and track new training programs to support employee development and align with company goals.
- Support employee training initiatives and professional development programs.
- Oversee all aspects of payroll, including processing employee salaries, ensuring accurate deductions, managing payroll records, and maintaining compliance with tax regulations and labor laws.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding processes.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of employee files in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee relations, questions and concerns, fostering a positive and productive workplace environment.
- Coordinate employee benefits programs, assist with enrollment, and address benefits-related inquiries.
Education & Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2-5 years of experience working in Human Resources at the Coordinator and/or Generalist level.
- Proven experience in areas like recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, or HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) management.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, and Synerion.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Familiarity with labour laws, workplace compliance, and policies.
- Strong verbal and written communication for effective interaction with employees and stakeholders.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and manage confidential information with professionalism.
- Empathy, problem-solving, and the ability to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Experience with time attendance software, and Microsoft Office.
What you’ll get from us:
- Competitive Wage: $60,000-$80,000, determined by skills and experience.
