Purpose: The HR Manager provides internal support and partnership to business lines to deliver human resources programs and ensure labor law and regulatory compliance. This role facilitates and communicates policies, programs, and processes to associates and managers in large locations and provides administrative support to the corporate HR functions.
Essential Functions:
- Establishes and maintains a positive HR presence with all associates and management within the locations
- Serves as the front-line Human Resources representative to the airport team members and handles onboarding, inquiries and offboarding, during the employment life- cycle; responds and coordinates with the appropriate departments as needed
- Implements and maintains various programs and processes to enhance the team member’s experience
- Assists with Payroll, Scheduling, Shift and Vacation Bids as requested
- Partners with the Benefits & Leaves teams, initiates and manages leaves of absences to ensure fairness, support for our team members, compliance and safe return to work
- Generates ad hoc information and reports for various stakeholders
- Monitors and maintains knowledge of legislative changes that affect team members employment; works with associated support functions to ensure compliance
- Supports Talent Management, Employee Experience, Compliance, Recruitment and HRIS support functions
- Compiles, files, and maintains employment, enrollment, pay change, information and other confidential forms and records in accordance with company, provincial, and federal laws
- Provides administrative support for various recognition and reward programs
- Supports orientation, uniform distribution and assists in training within the locations
- Assists in communications to team members via memos, beekeeper, etc.
- Oversees airport badge process and ensures compliance
- Coordinates team member appreciation events
Reporting Relationship: The HR Manager reports to the Retail HR Business Partner, Canada.
Major Interdependencies: Operations, Corporate departments
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 5 years:
•In a technical role: Requires 5 years of Human Resources experience
•A bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 3 of the five-year requirement
•In the industry: Hospitality, F&B and/or Retail experience 3-5 years preferred
Specialized Training:
•Training that leads to an in-depth understanding of Human Resources
•Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations and statutes
•Advanced knowledge across multiple HR areas including but not limited to benefits, recruiting, employee relations, and compensation
Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits
•High degree of confidentiality relative to all HR information
•Demonstrated history of understanding the needs of the business, stakeholders, the employee population and individual circumstances
•Business acumen and also has the mindset required to understand the long-term implications of Human Resources and to advance the organization goals
•Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments through coaching, developing, and leading teams to achieve common goals
Location: Requires a regular presence in Vancouver International Airport office location
