Our Canada Industrial Decarbonization Team is currently seeking an Industrial Decarbonization Consultant to grow our portfolio of work in Canada, based out of the Calgary office.

The opportunity
As an Industrial Decarbonization Consultant you will also be working with and advising technical Arup staff, managing projects, bidding and winning work, talking to clients, facilitating workshops, and defining and managing the sustainability process on projects. You will deploy experience in the areas of energy efficiency, electrification, hydrogen, carbon capture and carbon removal.
You will bring a holistic, people centred, approach to decarbonizing energy systems including impacts on water and resource use.
• Support bid managers and proposal development. Help to expand the pipeline of work for industrial decarbonization in Canada.
• Support in the delivery of decarbonization and energy efficiency projects keeping to budget, timeline and quality targets.
• Manage client expectations on projects, as well growing client network to generate intelligence and leads related to project opportunities.
• Ensure technical excellence in all decarbonization and energy efficiency work to clients.
• Over time become a ‘go-to’ person on industrial decarbonization.
• Demonstrate and promote creativity, innovation and digital integration.
• Support the Global/Regional Decarbonization and Energy Efficiency Skills Network and various other initiatives.
• Research and keep abreast of policy developments as relevant to the transition to net-zero.
• Participate in design reviews on relevant projects.
• Mentor and develop team members in their career development; build rapport and an environment of trust and willingness.
Is this role right for you?
• Bachelor or master’s degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering and other teams.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant energy efficiency, low carbon and sustainability consulting/research experience.
• Solid fundamental technical knowledge in energy and industrial processes, carbon management, low carbon strategies and sustainable development frameworks development, both for new and existing retrofits.
• Professional designations or working towards professional designations preferred.
• Understanding of the low/zero carbon, energy efficiency & sustainability market trends, policies, regulations and standards.
• Collaborative, helpful, “can-do” and client focused attitude.
• Ability to communicate with clients of all types (ex. engineers, developers, facility managers, policymakers, etc.).
• Experience and skills managing projects or portions of projects successfully.

Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Calgary is $80,000 to $90,000 per year.
This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside Calgary will differ.
