Intermediate/Senior Commercial Interior Designer – Join Our Family Team!

"We’re on the hunt for a creative and driven Intermediate/Senior Designer to join our close-knit, family-owned office furniture team in Vaughan, ON! You’ll work directly with our sales team and play a key role in shaping inspiring workspaces for our amazing clients."

As an Intermediate/ Senior Designer, you will independently manage complex projects, including creating furniture budgets, schedules, and staffing plans. You will work with clients, Architecture & Design firms, and our sales team, acting as a trusted advisor. This is a leadership role where you will also mentor and train team members.

What You’ll Be Doing (aka Your Superpowers in Action):

  • Partner with our sales team to shape design visions, define client goals, and set timelines that keep projects on track and clients impressed.
  • Bring ideas to life through compelling drawings and photorealistic renderings that clearly communicate your vision.
  • Get hands-on: conduct field surveys, take inventory, and assess on-site details to ensure every drawing is accurate and installation-ready.
  • Design with safety in mind—ensuring all space plans comply with building codes and prioritize end-user wellbeing.
  • Keep the team aligned by reviewing project milestones and recalibrating goals as needed.
  • Translate client conversations into clear design direction, balancing aspirations with practical solutions.
  • Thrive under pressure: juggle priorities, make smart calls fast, and keep momentum going even in crunch time.
  • Determine electrical locations and integrate them seamlessly into your furniture plans.
  • Collaborate with sales to develop smart, client-friendly furniture budgets for approval.
  • Keep projects on schedule by managing deliverables and communicating progress with transparency.
  • Specify furniture and finishes that wow your clients—and produce precise installation plans that keep things smooth on-site.
  • Use tools like AutoCAD, CET, and PowerPoint to craft clear, stunning presentations that make your work shine.
  • Conduct post-installation check-ins to make sure clients are thrilled with the results.
  • Take the reins: lead the design process from idea to execution, including concept development, design documentation, and construction drawings—mainly for innovative commercial office interiors.
  • Present your designs with confidence to clients and consultants, guiding them through your creative process.
  • Oversee construction phases, keeping your eye on detail and ensuring flawless execution.
  • Stay organized with meticulous digital filing practices to protect client data and streamline collaboration.
  • Coordinate with a variety of project consultants to ensure cohesive and aligned outcomes.
  • Manage multiple projects of all shapes and sizes independently—you're in control and on point.
  • Spot challenges early, bring creative solutions to the table, and evaluate results proactively.
  • Accurately specify a variety of furnishings—from systems furniture to stylish ancillary pieces.
  • Deliver outstanding, high-quality design solutions that balance creativity, precision, and efficiency—all while delighting clients and respecting project budgets.
  • Pitch in where needed, whether it's keeping the showroom and sample library in top shape or helping out with the phones—we’re a team and we support each other.

What You Bring to the Team:

Education & Experience that Counts:
You’ve got a degree (or equivalent) in architecture or interior design—and at least 5 years of hands-on experience designing inspiring, functional commercial office spaces in North America.

Communication Superpowers:
You’re confident in English, both spoken and written. Whether you’re interpreting technical documents, presenting to clients, or collaborating with a team, you know how to get your message across clearly and effectively.

Numbers That Make Sense:
From calculating furniture layouts to determining budgets and space requirements, you’re comfortable with measurements, percentages, and dimensions. You’ve got the math skills to back up your design vision.

Smart, Practical Thinking:
You don’t just follow instructions—you use common sense and creativity to solve problems, adapt to changes, and keep projects moving forward smoothly.

Tech-Savvy & Design-Ready:
You’re fluent in AutoCAD, 20/20 Giza, and the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). You can produce polished drawings, renderings, and specs with Giza Designer—and if you’ve worked with CET Designer or rendering software, even better!
