Intermediate Project Engineer

Acero Engineering Inc. (“Acero”), a growing oil & gas facilities engineering company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill one role as an Intermediate Project Engineer (6 – 10 years’ of experience). Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical I&C engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services and construction management.

Responsibilities: Creating and maintaining project schedules, engineering man-hour estimates, and cost estimates Requesting vendor information, compiling and distributing RFQs, evaluating quotes, and recommending purchase awards Assisting with the preparation and review of scope documents, reports, DBM’s, PEP’s, project kickoff documentation, RFQ’s, etc. Assembling and/or directing the assembly of construction work packages with an awareness and attention to what should be contained in the binder Understanding regulatory codes and the implication on Acero’s design (eg. spacing) Understanding and working with piping and various equipment specifications Understanding HAZOPS and dealing with preparation and close-outs Understanding and participating in squad checks Communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders (including clients, vendors, regulatory bodies, etc.) – eg. notifying the appropriate stakeholders of all changes Prioritizing workload and being able to juggle multiple tasks without falling short on quality or deadlines Other tasks/responsibilities, as required Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: Must have a minimum of 6 years’ of experience as a Project Engineer with strong technical capabilities Must have 4 years’ experience at an EPCM working on projects related to Oil and Gas Facilities in Western Canada Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with successful completion of ENCH 607 & 609 (or equivalent courses), and registered as a professional engineer or EIT in the province of Alberta Understanding and working effectively with MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Powerpoint, Teams Excellent team collaboration and interpersonal skills Strong written, verbal, analytical and critical thinking skills Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines as occasionally demanded by our clients
