Overview: ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This IT Infrastructure Engineer position will oversee security measures for computer networks, conduct Network Infrastructure engineering, and upgrade organizational information systems. This role will be implementing best practices in security controls and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure comprehensive information system security.
This full-time position is located in Vancouver, WA. Work with program manager and group project managers to identify necessary and potential network administrative tasks by assisting with project coordination and helping to execute tasks for assigned projects (i.e. timelines, device integration, running reports, generating step plans, etc.).
Work with planning, design, construction, and field maintenance organizations to understand their needs in developing and completing technology infrastructure and related projects. Represent TTOV in internal technical work groups, related to equipment specifications, maintenance standards & procedures, and recommendation and technical evaluation input into the acquisition of new systems, equipment, integration components, upgrades, enhancements, etc., as requested. Facilitate and assist with technical infrastructure project efforts, such as developing, documenting, and recommending project plans, requirements, equipment specifications, scoping, resource estimates, test plans, milestones, and deliverables; and may include regular status reports, drafting project communication, and maintenance and update of databases, and required documentation for project equipment.
Assist with documenting and drafting Statements of Work (SOWs), creating Bills or Lists of Materials (BOM’s), entering material requests for review and approval by appropriate federal personnel. Conduct market research on project equipment needs; recommend vendor options for Contracting Officer/Contracting Officer’s Representative (CO/COR); provide technical input and recommendations as a non-voting member of source selection teams. Collaborate with and assist manager, group COR, assigned CO or other appropriate federal personnel to prepare and draft requirements, specifications, and equipment evaluation documents for review, edit, and approval by federal personnel.
Engage in and support the integration of new equipment and procedures into a secure, 24/7 availability and reliability Control Center environment and assist with operations and maintenance standards development. Support transmission and facilities teams in configurations and integrations of local and wide area data networks, and the required support systems, with mission critical reliability requirements. This work also includes creation and drafting of new or revision of existing associated compliance documentation.
Interpret functional and non-functional requirements of projects and recommend overall system configurations. Partition system configurations and integration tasks; provide recommendations regarding team member assignments to the manager. Review team’s work for completeness and accuracy before integration into overall system.
Provide coordination and assist with configuration and integration efforts for the implementation of projects for field sites and Control Center locations as assigned. Inspect and evaluate deliverables to validate proper working order; take receipt of equipment as requested; develop / draft, validate, and recommend Operations & Maintenance technology infrastructure test procedures to be published for compliance; execute approved test plans and procedures. Follow established processes to document design and configuration specifications, installation instructions, and other system or network related information.
Mark documents and maintain filing system(s), files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Share and disperse documents only to appropriate personnel (those with a Lawful Government Purpose (LGP) to know). Mark and maintain all official records in accordance with the Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards and procedures.
Validate official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes. Provide clear technical documentation for training purposes after projects are completed. This may also include conducting formal and informal training as requested.
Attend internal technical working group sessions at manager request and communicate information gathered to team members. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in electronics, computer engineering, telecommunication engineering or a directly related field is preferred. 10 years of experience and knowledge in computer network and systems concepts, principals, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system is required. 5 years of experience on project teams developing computer and / or network systems. Experience working in an Enterprise Data Center with high availability requirements.
Familiarity and experience with the following systems: Server virtualization best practices and requirements SAN/NAS storage infrastructure implementation Managing and deploying AAA (Access, Authentication, & Authorization) services for infrastructure equipment Cabling and fiber management systems Knowledge of vulnerability research methodologies and sources Best practice data center physical infrastructure requirements Software defined networking (SDN) and network virtualization NERC CIP and Reliability standards Experience in the following: Virtual Private Network (VPN) and router encryption Fiber optic communication system design Work requires being mobile and the ability to move between locations to collect and collate information and evidence. Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required.
