JOB OVERVIEW:
BEST is looking for a junior Environmental Coordinator to implement sustainability-friendly programs, and oversee environmental waste audits for the assigned site across Ontario. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who works both independently and with a team to achieve environmental program initiatives and ensures compliance to related policies and procedures.

Job Type: Full Time

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and collect data from campus waste, recycling, and other locations in order to improve waste reduction.
  • Collect, analyze and report on data related to client and internal sustainability initiatives.
  • Coordinate annual waste audit and report on findings.
  • Promote recycling, composting and waste education to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate at information booths and other education and awareness events.
  • Support the development of a culture focused on waste diversion and a commitment to sustainability.
  • Other duties as reasonably required from time to time.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Environmental Science or related diploma or degree.
  • 1-2 years' experience in related experience is considered an asset 
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Intermediate computer and smart phone knowledge with experience using MS Office programs.
  • Ability to effectively analyze, plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Multilingual ability considered an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license in Ontario.
  • All potential candidates must pass security and criminal record checks.
