We are seeking Machinist(s) to operate CNC Horizonal Boring Mills and/or Vertical Milling Machines
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings
- Setup, program, and operation of HBMs or VMMs
- Run variety of machines including lathes and mills when required.
- Understand tool limitations and controls during operation
- Operate machines within tight tolerances and have a good knowledge of feeds and speeds
- Measure precisely utilizing mic’s, calipers, bore gauges and hold tight tolerances.
- Operate travelling overhead crane up to 20 tonnes, and know rigging requirements
- Inspect work according to ISO and Quality Assurance standards
- Capable of working unsupervised on own machine.
- Troubleshoot within area and on machines
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures
- Assist with continuous improvement projects under the direction of the team leader.
- Complete autonomous maintenance of equipment as per daily check lists.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has over 3 years of HBM and/or VMM experience and possesses the following competencies.
Education
- Journeyman Machinist certificate is considered an asset, but not required
- Years experience could be measured for equivalency
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to operate a crane with proper rigging techniques
- Experience with medium to large mills
- Ability to run variety of CNC Machines and equipment
- Commitment to providing outstanding service
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality
- Experience in a shop environment, preferably with custom ability
