Reporting to the Director of Operations, BC Buildings, the Manager, Special Projects will be responsible for the overall quality, safety and execution of the Special Projects division. This position is based in the Richmond, BC office, but will require travel to project sites.
What You Will Be Working On Opportunity Management and Opportunity Response
Lead, manage and support the Special Projects team.
Support, and actively engage in, identifying business development opportunities.
Lead the development and execution of key account and market plans.
Collaborate on a national level with Special Projects Managers in other offices.
Provide forecasting and business planning initiatives to the Regional Vice President.
Lead bid proposal responses to clients with the support of marketing and other team members.
Preconstruction
Develop, manage, and maintain client, consultant and trade relationships.
Ensure all contract negotiations are executed in accordance with process.
Support the estimating team during the cost plan and tender process.
Oversee all subcontracts and follow through to execution.
Ensure that all preconstruction planning activities are executed to satisfaction.
Construction
Lead the development of a project strategy that meets or exceeds performance, schedule and profitability targets.
Confirm that estimate/cost plan incorporates value for the owner.
Conduct the negotiation and oversee the preparation and execution of the prime contract.
Maintain OH&S standards for Special Projects.
Ensure project health, safety and environmental standards meet or exceed requirements.
Post Construction
Ensure that the project teams clear all deficiencies in a timely manner.
Ensure total completion is achieved as per the client’s expectation.
Employee and Talent Management
Provide resource allocation to execute projects effectively.
Collaborate with People and Culture for staffing of new talent.
Develop high performance employees through coaching and mentoring.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management.
15+ years’ experience in construction.
5 years’ experience in a management leadership role.
Track record of successfully leading concurrent projects under 20 million.
Experience with managing multiple project delivery contracts.
Ability to use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Projects.
Strong leadership capability and interpersonal skills.
