Position: Medical Receptionist (temporary 12 month term) Location: Red Deer, Alberta Reports To: Executive Director Company Summary: Dr. Chacon-Andrade started his practice in Red Deer in 2004, offering a wide range of services related to the diagnosis and treatment of ocular and periocular diseases. Our philosophy has always been to treat patients with the highest level of care by taking extra time to get to know patients and their families, and compassion through bedside manners.

Our experienced and knowledgeable team, which includes certified Ophthalmic Assistants, works one-on-one to ensure that each patient receives the best in medical care and support. Most diagnostic, medical and laser treatments are provided in house and surgical treatments are performed at OPD and surgical facilities at the Red Deer, Innisfail and Wetaskiwin Hospitals The Role: The Medical Receptionist will be responsible for providing a great first impression to all visitors to the medical clinic, and for performing such administrative tasks as scheduling and confirming appointments, filing documents, and answering phone calls. In addition to basic technical skills, the Medical Receptionist works as part of a team of other assistants to respond to patient inquiries and balance patient and physician concerns with courtesy and diplomacy.

This is a temporary 12 month position that is anticipated to start on September 9, 2024. Duties and Responsibilities: Answering incoming calls Calling to confirm appointments Greeting visitors at reception, and directing them to the appropriate area Scheduling appointments for the clinic and through ConnectCare for OPD Photocopying and scanning documents Receiving and managing mail, emails, and faxes Updating the clinic’s computer records and databases Word processing and data entry Filing and organizing medical records Other related duties, as required Experience and Qualifications: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent 1 year of experience in a receptionist role or medical office administration Previous recent work in a medical environment is preferred Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook applications Experience using Connect care for outpatient bookings and/or Healthquest scheduling software are considered assets. Approachable, friendly people-person capable of working both independently and as part of a team Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities in an environment with frequent interruptions Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism, diplomacy, and exhibit patience, representing the company in a courteous and pleasant manner High level of accuracy and attention to detail Advanced interpersonal, communication and telephone skills Ability to exercise good independent judgement and discretion and maintain patient confidentiality A strong interest in healthcare and enthusiasm for patient care Schedule: The Medical Receptionist works between 30-40 hours per week from Monday to Friday depending on the physician’s schedule.

Usual hours may vary depending on the needs of the clinic, but typical hours are between 8am-5pm with one hour for lunch at noon. Compensation: Compensation for the position will be based on candidate skills and experience.
