Position Overview

Kiewit Engineering Group, Inc is a full-service consulting and engineering firm serving the infrastructure and engineering markets. Our rapidly growing Power district includes structural, civil, piping, mechanical, process, process safety, electrical, instrument and control disciplines. We focus on constructability and safety in the earliest phases of projects to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.

Location

This position is based out of Calgary, AB with opportunity for flexible work options. Travel will be required on occasion, including into the US.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in the design of large power generation projects.
  • Work as part of a large project team, including both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction superintendents.
  • Prepare technical specifications and interface with construction partners.
  • Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel.
  • Prepare electrical engineering designs, including layout, schematics, calculations, equipment sizing, and conceptual design.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Ensure all designs comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control measures.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to specify electrical components and equipment.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss project scope, deliverables, and technical requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an CEAB accredited four-year college or university program required.
  • P.Eng strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as an electrical engineer in the power generation or oil and gas industries.
  • Proficiency with basic computer operation and standard software tools.
  • Experience in field construction or startup power plant work is a plus.
