Job Title: Molecular Biology/Biotechnology Scientist (Industrial Postdoctoral Position) Company: BryoSphere Biotechnologies Inc. Location: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada Job Type: Full-Time, Industrial Postdoc Eligibility: Ph.D. graduate within the past five years , Canadian permanent resident, or citizen. Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. scientist with expertise in biotechnology and biochemistry to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our research and development initiatives aimed at genetically engineering the metabolism of moss to produce small molecules for commercial purposes and scaling those up. Responsibilities: Genetic Engineering and Cloning: Design, execute, and optimize molecular biology experiments focused on genetic engineering and cloning to modify moss traits for the production of specialty chemicals.

Analysis/purification of plant metabolites : Optimize protocols for efficient extraction, analysis and purification of plant metabolites at a benchtop scale. Target Development: Contribute to the design and development of novel transgenic moss lines producing target molecules with therapeutic applications. Lab management duties : Maintain biological inventories such as plants in sterile tissue culture, glycerol stocks inventories, primer and plasmid inventories.

Monitor lab expenses and maintain the organization of reagents. Collaboration: Work with our team to integrate your scientific findings with BryoSphere’s broader commercial objectives. Self-starter: Demonstrate the ability to work independently, take ownership of projects and be open to learning new techniques/analyses as needed.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or a related field. Proficient in genetic engineering and cloning techniques. Experience working with sterile plant tissue culture (preferred).

Experience with bioreactor setup and operation (preferred). Experience with chemical analysis of complex plant extracts (HPLC, LC/MS, GC/MS). Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
