Bistro Cook (limited-term contract)

Term & Hours :
January – June 2024
Full time Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., daily 30-minute break

Purpose of the role :
The Bistro Cook will work with a small kitchen team and assist with a wide variety of cooking and cleaning tasks.

Reports To:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks;
  • Menu and recipe creation;
  • Entering daily menus into the ordering system;
  • Creating a welcoming environment and positive experience for guests;
  • Preparing catering orders for meetings and events
  • Keeping kitchen clean, sanitized, and organized; and
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

    This position will also require a moderate level of ability/comfort with technology. An enthusiasm to learn new skills in this and other areas is an asset.

    A very good understanding of, and adherence to, food cleanliness standards, and prevention of food borne illnesses and cross-contamination is essential; safety and sanitation are crucial.

    Education & Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Cooking or Baking educational program is an asset;
  • Food safety and knife skills training/certification required; and
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and quick to learn new technology
