We are looking for experienced Operatorsto join our team.</p><p><br /></p><p>The Excavator Operator will be responsible for operating an excavator in construction sites to support Excavation and Deep Foundations.</p><p><br /></p><p>Duties & Responsibilities</p><p><br /></p><ul><li>Work safely in a construction site and promote a safe work <span >environmentadhering</span> to safety policies and procedures including participation in safety meetings.</li><li>Responsible for daily maintenance and safety inspections of their assigned piece of equipment as outlined in Mainlands equipment policy</li><li>Responsible for Maintaining pre-trip <span >inspections/activity</span> logs</li><li>Operators are to operate their equipment in a manner as not to cause damage to the equipment or any surrounding structures or impediments and to do so safely to ensure the safety of themselves and others onsite</li><li>Operators are expected to work with the Foreman to perform various tasks including but not limited to, excavations both bulk and/or detailed excavation, utility installations, grading, ditching, sloping etc. in accordance with the project specifications</li><li>Ensure effective communication on progress and any potential issues are brought to the attention of the Foreman/ crew</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>Qualifications, Experience & Skillset</p><p><br /></p><ul></ul><ul><li>Must have minimum of one year experience as an excavator operator in bulk and detailed excavations or experience operating on civil utility works.</li><li>Current experience operating 200 - 400 size Excavators</li><li>Understand grading plans/stakes and drawings is a benefit</li><li>Must possess valid Class 5 Driver's License and be able to travel to sites across region.</li><li>Maintain quality results of work to be done. </li><li>Maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues.</li><li>Good communications ability, able to work with variety of individuals</li><li>Work as a team with other crew members on daily activities of the site.</li><li>First aid, confined space, and fall protection training is an asset.</li><li>Understanding of Safety and ability to communicate Safety issues as they arise</li><li>Must be physically fit, able to spend most or all shift standing, walking, lifting and carrying, working hands-on in an outdoor environment in all types of weather.</li><li>Flexibility with hours worked, including overtime and weekend work as needed.</li><li>Willingness to learn and possibly work across both our divisions (deep excavation and civil site services)</li><li>Must be local to the Lower Mainland</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>What we offer</p><p><br /></p><ul><li>Unionized base wage of $41.33 per hour (wage subject to negotiation based on candidate's experience), plus 13% of gross earnings for vacation / statutory holiday pay.</li><li>Union wages and benefits <br /></li><li>Training and developmental opportunities</li><li>Strong emphasis on safety </li></ul><p></p><p>At Mainland, we believe that our people are our greatest asset.
