Job Title: Optometrist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Optometrist to join our professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive eye care services to patients of all ages. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and managing a range of ocular conditions, prescribing corrective lenses, and promoting long-term eye health and preventive care.
This position requires a commitment of 2–3 days per week, with approximately 3 hours of clinical availability per day. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical acumen, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to patient-centred care.
Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess patients' vision and eye health.
- Diagnose and treat visual problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids as needed.
- Monitor and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and the importance of regular eye exams.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid state optometry license.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry.
- Experience in patient care with a focus on senior care, pediatrics, and optical sales.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems like Epic.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Familiarity with a wide range of optical products and services.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
