OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW We are looking for a full-time Pastry Chef to join our growing team. The Pastry Chef is responsible for leading, motivating and developing our Pastry team while overseeing the quality, consistency, presentation and service of desserts, pastries, and baked goods. RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, coordinate and supervise all menu implementations in a timely manner with the Executive Chef.
Provide training to develop pastry team, observing professional behaviour of employees providing feedback. Monitor progress and leads discussion with staff each shift. Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action to address service challenges; focuses on continuous improvement of guest satisfaction.
Handle customer comments and complaints and take swift corrective action after consultation with the department head concerned. Responsible and accountable for the overall food cost as well as kitchen supplies, kitchen energy costs and kitchen utensils. Complete detailed checks of the entire Food and Beverage operation during all service periods taking necessary actions to correct any deviation from quality standards.
Conduct daily inspections of the Pastry area and other kitchens. Create and develop new dishes and recipes by keeping up with the latest market trends. Responsible for managing the labor budget for the pastry kitchen.
Propose and initiate when approved, new services and products for our members. Performs all other duties as required. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Must have minimum 5 years experience in high end hotel and or restaurants.
Must have experience in catering/banquet/high volume parties. Experience in general baking, laminated dough and plated desserts. Experience in menu planning, development and execution.
Minimum 3 years leadership experience (pastry chef or executive pastry chef). Portfolio of work and or willing to execute a tasting. Computer Knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Culinary Diploma or certificate is an asset. Must have FoodSafe Certification Level 2.
