We are seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our clients team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payroll processes and ensuring accurate and timely compensation for our employees. Your contributions will be vital in supporting our operations and maintaining employee satisfaction.
The Payroll Administrator interacts with a large number of employees and external customers throughout the workday. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and being deadline driven are important to being successful in this role.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile employee time sheets to ensure accuracy every pay period
- Transfer time sheets data into payroll software and make any additions or corrections
- Reconcile and enter project job cost data in Payworks Time Management system
- Complete payroll reconciliations
- Set up and maintain employee profile within the payroll system
- Respond to employee inquiries re. payroll
- Process all new hires, temporary workers, promotions and terminations including ROEs
- Prepare payroll and labour overtime reports for management reporting
- Run annual T4s and T4 Summary and reconcile with payroll registers
- Track employee sick days and overtime bank
- Provide back up to the CMSG Marine union payroll when required
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Payroll Administrator or similar role.
- 3 to 5 years in payroll – both unionize and non-unionized
- Strong knowledge of payroll software such as Payworks is preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong sense of urgency and confidentiality
- Ability to analyze information and resolve discrepancies effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
