Airswift is working with one of our major Oil and Gas clients to find a Payroll Analyst to join their team in a 6-month contract in Calgary.

Job Description:


We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to join our team. Reporting directly to the Manager, Payroll, this position will be responsible for supporting all aspects of time and scheduling processes, along with performing ongoing payroll audits for our Canadian operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in payroll, time management systems, and audit practices, with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SAP Time & Schedule Management: Review, coordinate, and manage all aspects of SAP Time and Scheduling queries, including updates, audits, reviews, testing, and validation to ensure accurate time reporting.
  • System Configuration & Maintenance: Configure and maintain time and scheduling systems to meet operational requirements.
  • Payroll Data Accuracy: Assist with the analysis and resolution of issues related to domestic payroll and time processes, ensuring data is administered accurately and in compliance with company policies.
  • Leave Balance Monitoring: Monitor and report on various employee leave balances (e.g., vacation, sick leave) and ensure accuracy in the system.
  • Payroll Audits & Data Review: Participate in pay period audits and data review activities to maintain accuracy and identify discrepancies before payroll runs.
  • Issue Resolution: Commit to researching and responding to internal and external inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Project Participation: Act as a key member in time, scheduling, and payroll-related projects, including audits, system upgrades, and enhancements, aimed at improving the overall quality of payroll services.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Provide backup and support for other payroll and time team members during absences, ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Year-End Administration: Assist with year-end payroll administration as needed, ensuring smooth year-end processes and compliance.

Qualifications & Skills:


  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years’ progressive experience working with an integrated financial and payroll system, ideally in a corporate or multi-location environment.
  • Certification: PCP Certification (or enrollment in the program), or completion of the NPI payroll designation course is preferred.
  • System Experience: Experience with SAP CATS (Cross-Application Time Sheets) is an asset but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and data manipulation.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address discrepancies proactively.
  • Adaptability: Able to work under pressure, manage multiple projects with changing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Confidentiality: Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll and employee information.
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on providing excellent service to internal stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the ability to work independently as needed.
