This position will work in a hybrid capacity, both remote and onsite at the YWCA Program Centre, 535 Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC. Posting Period: August 15, 2024 – August 30, 2024. Job Description Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing bi-weekly timecards for approximately 600 employees on the ADP WFN system and will assist the Payroll Manager with all aspects of Payroll & Benefits.
This role works closely with the Human Resources and Finance teams and requires a good knowledge of computerized Payroll and HR systems. What you’ll be doing: Processing bi-weekly timecards for all hourly & salary employees (both unionized & non-union). Reviewing timecards for completeness and accuracy.
Processing pay adjustments, retroactive and vacation calculations and payments accordingly. Calculating and pro-rating leave entitlements. Responding to a variety of inquiries surrounding payroll from managers and employees, escalating issues when necessary.
Calculating, completing, and balancing all transactions related to third-party payments. Providing assistance for all internal and external audits related to payroll including employee deductions and other liabilities for month-end reporting, journal entries, and adjustments for review. Creating bi-weekly pay and benefit journal entry and uploading to Sage 300 (including accruals).
Assisting with generating and processing statutory government filings such as T4 and ROE in an accurate and timely manner. Electronic filing for each pay period. Backing up Payroll Manager during their time off and performing other related duties as required.
What you’ll need: Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in processing payroll. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting standards and financial reporting. A strong ability to work effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment.
A Certified Payroll Professional (PCP) designation or equivalent (considered an asset) or working towards one. Experience in payroll systems (ADP WFN considered an asset). Demonstrated flexibility with others and job responsibilities.
A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required. The YWCA Metro Vancouver’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and vaccination from COVID-19 is not required at this time. However, should circumstances change and the YWCA deem it necessary to reintroduce such policy, you may be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be eligible to continue performing your duties.
