Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation

THE ORGANIZATION

Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation

The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Its primary purpose is to raise funds to support children’s health and for the Stollery Children’s Hospital, which is a pediatric hospital affiliated with the University of Alberta. The foundation plays a crucial role in financing specialized equipment, research, education, and patient care programs at the hospital and beyond.

The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation works towards ensuring that the hospital can provide the best possible medical care and support for children and their families. It organizes fundraising events, campaigns, and community initiatives to gather resources for the hospital’s various needs.

Stollery Children’s Hospital

The Stollery is the most specialized children’s hospital in Western Canada and serves the largest geographic area of any children’s hospital in North America.

It’s also the hub for pediatric heart surgery in the west.

Last year the Stollery responded to 324,425 patient visits, 54,649 emergency department visits, 251,462 outpatient clinic visits, 24,507 surgery clinic visits, 10,965 surgeries, and 2,362 patients with mental health concerns. Of those, 28% of patients were from outside the Edmonton area and the Stollery held 133,027 virtual patient visits.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President & CEO is responsible for defining and implementing the vision (promise), mission (purpose), values, strategy, and goals of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, enhancing the Foundation’s fundraising efforts, and sustaining and improving its profile and reputation in the community.

The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation was started by parents who strongly believed that the adult health system was not doing enough to serve children who were ill, injured, or in peril. Those humble community roots are partly why the Stollery brand continues to resonate so powerfully across Canada. Twenty years later, that fundamental goal has not changed; the vision of the Foundation is to give kids the best chance at a long and healthy life.

This role will continue to build upon the work done so far. There is a passionate and dedicated team within the foundation, on the board, and in the hospital that are all striving towards that continued goal of healthy children.

With 54 full time employees, the Foundation strives to create a work environment that is both inclusive, diverse and barrier free to employees. Currently, 89% of our team is female, 24% of the team represent visible minority communities.
