If you have those aspirations then DNV has a spot for you. Our Energy Systems business unit in North America is seeking a Principal Hydrogen Engineer passionate about creating a safer, better, and more sustainable world.



DNV is currently leading projects in all aspects of the hydrogen value chain, from production to end-use, providing subject matter expertise in pipeline transportation, transmission and distribution, integrity and risk management, as well as support in production, processing facilities, storage, and end-use compatibility. As a Hydrogen Engineer, you will have the opportunity to support a variety of projects for customers leading the transition to hydrogen and overall energy transition.

This role is based at our DNV office in Calgary, Alberta presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. What You’ll Do

  • Be the driver of high-quality delivery of Hydrogen projects in North America
  • Lead and engage in hydrogen projects where you will challenge concepts and ideas for hydrogen transportation, distribution, storage, production, and end-use
  • Work closely together with regional segment lead and DNV subject matter experts for H2 to share, learn and implement best practices
  • Increase your internal and external visibility by participating in business development including lead generation, bidding, and multidisciplinary proposal development
  • Sharing is important for DNV; thus, you will be involved in domain knowledge building within the organization
  • Support proposals and projects as a subject matter expert
  • Support team competence development through coaching and mentoring

About you

What Is Required

  • BS or higher in mechanical, electrical, materials, or a related engineering field
  • Direct experience working with hydrogen production, transportation, processing, or other related hydrogen projects
  • Strong domain knowledge in any one or more of the following areas:
    • Hydrogen value chain
    • Gas distribution pipeline engineering and operations
    • Low-carbon hydrogen production (e.g. green and blue hydrogen)
    • Electrolyzers and electrolysis
    • Fuel cells
    • Gas processing facilities (e.g. compression, liquefaction, storage, and separation)
    • Hydrogen transportation via pipelines, trucks, and rails in various forms (e.g., compressed gas, liquefied hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, liquid organic hydrogen carrier, and metal hydride)
    • H2 uses in the industrial sector
    • H2 Safety and Risk Management
    • Hydrogen regulations, standards, and codes

What Is Preferred
