Mele & Co is America’s Jewelry Box Since 1912 providing jewellery storage solutions for North American consumers through some of the World’s largest retailers.  As part of our commitment to excellence, Gunther Mele is seeking a dynamic and experienced Procurement Manager to lead our purchasing and supply chain team.

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Procurement Manager to oversee our sourcing and vendor management operations. This role is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of goods and services—both domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate will be a skilled negotiator, a proactive leader, and a collaborative partner across departments.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Vendor Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors
  • Asia travel semi-annually to maintain factory relations and vet new factories 
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service-level agreements
  • Monitor vendor performance and resolve issues to ensure quality and reliability

 

Sourcing Strategy

  • Lead sourcing initiatives across domestic and overseas markets
  • Identify and evaluate new suppliers to optimize cost, quality, and delivery
  • Source new materials and products that suit the company's growth objectives
  • Stay informed on global market trends, tariffs, and supply chain risks

 

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a team of 4 procurement professionals
  • Set clear goals, delegate responsibilities, and foster a culture of accountability
  • Evaluate current business practices to identify streamlining and efficiency opportunities 
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team performance

 

Operational Excellence

  • Collaborate with finance, logistics, and production teams to align procurement with business needs
  • Implement procurement best practices and cost-saving initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels

 

 

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement or strategic sourcing
  • Proven track record in vendor negotiation and international sourcing
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
