We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our District Energy team. The Project Manager will be responsible for executing district energy projects and initiatives, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, standards, safety policies, and regulatory requirements. This role involves extensive coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery from development through to handover.

This position will support one of North America’s largest and fastest growing district energy networks; City Centre District Energy Utility (CCDEU), located in Richmond, BC.

Salary: $98,000-$114,000

What You Will Do

·      Oversee projects from development and planning through design, construction, commissioning, and handover

·      Manage project costs, forecasts, and spending, including contract management with consultants and contractors


·      Provide technical design and construction guidance to maintain project momentum and meet deadlines

·      Exercise sound judgment in project decisions, changes, and problem-solving

·      Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders


·      Manage and influence expectations, resolving conflicts to align with project objectives

·      Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving

·      Provide strong technical review and oversight on the delivery of Low-Carbon Energy Plants (LCEP)


·      Supervise, train, and mentor Project Coordinators

·      Maintain a safe and secure work environment

·      Foster personal and professional growth opportunities within the team


·      Prepare detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project

·      Develop comprehensive project budgets and cost estimates

·      Manage contractual documentation (RFI, SI, CCO, CO, CD, CN, and CO logs)


·      Negotiate and prepare contracts with various project stakeholders

·      Ensure effective communication among all project team members

·      Monitor and control project schedules to meet milestones and deadlines


·      Provide technical review of consultant design deliverables

·      Maintain high standards of quality throughout the project lifecycle

·      Conduct frequent site visits to monitor construction progress and identify potential risks


·      Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations

·      Review and approve project-related invoices and progress draws

What You Will Bring


Education and Experience

·      Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Process/Chemical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent



·      Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration or eligibility to join a professional organization (e.g., EGBC)



·      Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering, project management, and construction-related fields

·      Preference given to candidates with building engineering and construction experience (HVAC, plumbing, energy modelling, etc.), working on residential, commercial, institutional and industrial projects.


Certifications

·      PMP certification (asset)

·      LEED qualifications (asset)

Skills and Abilities


·      Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

·      Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

·      Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities


·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Project and cost estimation tools

Working Conditions

·      Normal office setting with work-from-home options


·      Regular visits to construction sites required
