<p>Join an exciting team of engineers, data scientists, and actuaries at the forefront of leveraging software and data to drive pricing decisions. The insurance industry is undergoing a transformation, and you get to be in the driver’s seat of this data‑driven, technology revolution. A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the <b>Commercial Price Modelling</b> team in our Toronto or Markham offices.</p>
<p>We are seeking a <b>Python Developer</b> to build the next generation of Pricing tools that will redefine the way Aviva commercial underwriters interact with customers, brokers, and vendors. Aviva Canada recently purchased a new pricing tool, Hyperexponential, to help build, deploy, and refine pricing models. The platform is native Python and developers can deploy in a few clicks. You will develop HX products for our 20+ commercial lines within the Global Corporate and Specialty space, aiming to onboard all lines onto the platform within a 2‑year timeframe.</p>
<p>You will work closely with other developers, data scientists, and pricing actuaries to bring HX products to life, embedding pricing models into the market. You will also collaborate with stakeholders such as commercial underwriters and IT professionals to integrate HX products with other technologies via APIs and microservices.</p>
<h3>What You’ll Do</h3>
<ul>
<li>Develop and maintain HX pricing products and deploy them into production in collaboration with developers, business stakeholders, and IT professionals.</li>
<li>Integrate HX products with the wider pricing ecosystem such as Policy Administrative System and Datalake using APIs and microservices.</li>
<li>Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable, and secure Python codebase using TDD principles.</li>
<li>Mentor development resources on design and code best practices, quality, performance, and security.</li>
<li>Share best practices with team members and the internal developer community while collaborating and managing stakeholders.</li>
<li>Work in a team using Scrum and Kanban rituals with a passion for Agile methodology.</li>
</ul>
<h3>What You’ll Bring</h3>
<ul>
<li>3+ years of experience in Python development or software engineering.</li>
<li>Good grasp of software engineering practices such as code re‑usability and modularity.</li>
<li>An educational background in computer science or engineering, math, statistics, physics, or a related field. A minimum of a BSc is required; a Master’s is preferred.</li>
<li>Experience working collaboratively in a version control environment using Git practices and repository structure.</li>
<li>Intuitive problem‑solving and analytic skills.</li>
<li>Strong communication and collaboration skills.</li>
</ul>
