Reclamation Superintendent

Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We are focused on long-term growth through an aggressive exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

We are currently looking for a Reclamation Superintendent to join our Calgary office.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Liability and Closure, the successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the programming and execution of civil remediation and reclamation activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations
• Complete thorough historical site reviews with all available information to generate programs for execution, including cost estimates for budgeting
• Work with Remediation and Reclamation Coordinator(s) to obtain technical input
• Work with other Tourmaline departments as necessary
• Understand all applicable regulations and guidelines
• Manage all necessary applications, notifications, and agreements required for execution of work
• Manage reclamation field supervisors required for project execution (Tourmaline contractors)
• Daily interaction with reclamation field supervisors to ensure execution is safe, on time and on budget
• Ensure the reporting, investigation, and necessary follow-up on all project HSER incidents
• Manage vendor selection, including rate and performance evaluations
• Manage necessary work camps and road access (winter or otherwise) for closure projects/programs across all closure stage gates
• Manage field environmental assessment activities as necessary in conjunction with Remediation and Reclamation Coordinator(s)
• Accountable for ensuring necessary AFE’s are generated, supplemented, and explained
• Manage, scrutinize, and approve invoices from project vendors
• Strive for continuous improvement in project safety, compliance, and cost efficiency
• subsequent closure stages (post-reclamation and reclamation certification)
• Assist in program planning and overall liability reduction strategy
• Support acquisition due diligence
• Assist with the integration of acquisitions into Tourmaline liability data/programs
• Help manage remediation and reclamation components of ARO financial audits
• Provide technical advice to support industry advocacy and regulatory change to lower ARO
• Lead implementation of new techniques and technologies to reduce costs of closure

Qualifications:

• Ability to work from Tourmaline’s Calgary head office (note this is an office-based role).
• Capable of periodic travel to NW Alberta or NE British Columbia to visit project sites.
• 10+ years experience managing civil remediation and reclamation activities ensuring optimum project safety, compliance, and efficiency.
• Project Management and leadership experience.
• Business management skills.
• Open to candidates with a variety of educational backgrounds and/or practical experience.
• Team oriented individual with a desire to learn and continuously improve.
• Ability to work independently in a high volume and fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and highly organized with an appreciation for tight deadlines and delivering results.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to respond quickly to queries.
• Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office.
