SAP HR/Payroll Systems Analyst

Job Description

Our leading municipal client is looking for an SAP HCM Systems Analyst to join their team on a 6 month term with high likelihood of extension. This will be a hybrid role in Oakville.


The Senior Systems Analyst will play a key role in leading, designing, and supporting SAP ERP HR/Payroll solutions (ECC/S4HANA). This position is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll operations, system optimization, and seamless integration with Finance and Time Management modules. The ideal candidate is a seasoned SAP professional with deep expertise in Canadian Payroll, configuration, and compliance.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full technical implementation lifecycle for SAP HR/Payroll projects - from planning, configuration, and integration to testing, documentation, and training.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements, estimate effort, and develop detailed functional and technical specifications.
  • Configure and maintain payroll schemas, rules, wage types, and time management elements within SAP ERP.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy and adherence to Canadian statutory requirements (CRA, CPP, EI, etc.).
  • Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for SAP HCM Payroll and related modules.
  • Oversee multiple concurrent initiatives, including system upgrades, maintenance, and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to deliver approved changes and new functionality.
  • Develop documentation and training materials; facilitate end-user training sessions.
  • Participate in product evaluations, RFP processes, and user acceptance testing.
  • Monitor system performance, perform capacity planning, and recommend process or policy improvements.
  • Develop and customize reports and applications as needed.
  • Provide third-level application support while ensuring minimal disruption to production systems.


Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 8+ years of SAP HCM experience, including 5+ years specializing in Canadian Payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, retroactive accounting, and statutory compliance.
  • Proven hands-on experience configuring SAP Payroll (schemas, PCRs, wage types).
  • Proficient in HR modules such as Training, Timesheets, and Authorizations.
  • Experience integrating SAP with non-SAP systems and leading ERP implementations.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.


Nice to have:

  • SAP ERP HCM or SAP SuccessFactors certifications.
  • Experience with SuccessFactors modules (Employee Central, Time & Attendance, Onboarding, LMS, Recruitment).
  • Familiarity with Qlik Gold Client software.
