Senior Accounts Payable Representative

About the role

On-site | Full-time

This position is responsible for assisting the Accounts Payable department, with expertise with the end-to-end Accounts Payable process for Canada and USA.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Ensure vendor invoices and payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner;
  2. Liaise with individuals and departments to ensure all vendor invoices, packing slips and statements are submitted to the A/P department in accordance with established procedures and deadlines;
  3. Reconcile vendor statements/prepayments and resolving discrepancies;
  4. Sort and code invoices and other related paperwork for payables entry;
  5. Prepare EFT and cheque runs as required, and prepare bank upload processes;
  6. Provide back-up, training and support to the Accounts Payable team;
  7. Act as back up to the Accounts Payable Manager to direct work within the team;
  8. Suggest improvements to A/P processes and systems;
  9. Investigate and resolving irregularities or enquiries;
  10. Monitor the accounts payable e-mail inbox and respond to vendor and internal staff enquiries;
  11. Complete month end processes;
  12. Observing established safety regulations and complying with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  13. Other duties as assigned by the manager.


About you:

  1. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
  2. A high level of diligence and attention to detail;
  3. Computer literacy using Excel spreadsheets and Word;
  4. Knowledge of computerized accounting system;
  5. Strong ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with multiple priorities;
  6. Flexible and the ability to assist in other areas of the Finance department;
  7. Ability to accurately follow instructions;
  8. A positive, team-player attitude with a strong work ethic;
  9. Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).

Required Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 5 years of Accounts Payable experience in a large, multi-currency, multi-branch environment. Experience in Canadian taxation highly preferred.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience with ERP systems. Experience with BeanWorks or Oracle an asset.
  3. Post-secondary education in financial or accounting preferred.

Physical Demands:


  1. Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
  2. Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day;
  3. Ability to communicate via telephone and e-mail without assistance;
  4. Manual dexterity to do repetitive tasks such as data entry.

  1. An estimated hourly pay ranging from $27.38 – 33.24 at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
