About UsThe Scouten Story:Scouten Engineering is a dynamic consulting civil and structural engineering firm based in Prince George, British Columbia.We have been successfully meeting the structural and civil engineering consulting needs of our clients since 1995. Our people provide well thought-out solutions to challenging situations. Our work has helped us earn a reputation as the creative problem solvers company.We have worked on a long list of challenging engineering projects including; industrial structures, buildings, reservoirs, resource roads, heavy civil structures, retaining walls, piping systems, water supply, sanitary and storm sewers, roads and yes, even parking lots.The services we provide our clients in addition to ‘nuts and bolts’ civil and structural engineering include; Cause and Origin assessments, expert testimony, feasibility studies, detailed design drawings and specifications, tender and contract administration, site plans, terrain models, and grading plans.Our experience in the delivery of professional engineering and related technical services and our approach to all of our engineering services can be summarized as follows:We know what we are:We’re a relatively small firm (of less than 20 employees) committed to the delivery of exceptional engineering services. We have complete confidence in our abilities but know our limitations so we collaborate with colleagues with expertise in other fields of engineering when required.Overall, our attitude to all of our projects is simple:Thoughtful engineering, crafted by professionals, guided by quality and integrity, working in a fulfilling and engaging environment.About the RoleThe successful candidate will be currently registered, or eligible to be registered, as a professional engineer (P. Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.Projects will be a blend of both civil (primarily) and structural (secondary) work such as: potable water supply, sanitary and storm drainage systems, and industrial and residential subdivisions.This position requires excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare clearly written correspondence, engineering reports and technical studies, and to communicate effectively face-to-face with clients. You will be expected to work independently, and delegate engineering and drafting assignments to members of our team. You will also be expected to provide mentorship to the other staff including junior engineers and technologist.This position includes working in a modern, well equipped consulting engineering office with the opportunity for occasional field work, including travel around beautiful central and northern British Columbia, and occasionally Alberta, Yukon, and Saskatchewan.
RequirementsWe are in particular need of a Senior Civil Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in:Civil engineering including the design of water, sanitary and storm, onsite wastewater systems, along with transportation, and lot developmentPreparation and checking of engineering calculationsDevelopment of sketches for distribution to drafting staffManagement of individual project filesClient liaison and business developmentAuthoring and/or review of engineering reportsManagement and mentoring of junior engineering staffOccasional site visitsBenefitsPositive work environmentCompetitive benefitsOngoing training and developmentSalary Range: 115k 0 120k (Dependent on Skills & Experience)At Scouten Engineering, we work hard and play hard.
