Our client, one of Canada’s leading engineering firms, is seeking a self-motivated Senior Accountant to join their corporate finance team in Vancouver, BC. This role offers the opportunity to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the firm’s financial health and integrity. Key Responsibilities: Support the month-end process, including full-cycle accounting duties, financial information preparation and analysis, account reconciliations, and tax filings.
Perform accounting technical research for complex accounting transactions to enhance financial disclosure and compliance with GAAP. Document existing day-to-day accounting policies, month-end close processes, and reconciliations, recommending corrective measures where necessary. Support financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data for various stakeholders.
Assist in developing accounting policies and procedures fit for the organization to support the business and internal control framework. Assist in the quarterly consolidation process of multiple entities and month-end closing procedures. Collaborate with finance or cross-functional teams to gather financial data, resolve discrepancies, and address accounting issues.
Support the year-end audit process by responding to auditors’ inquiries and preparing appropriate working papers and supporting schedules. Ideal Candidate Requirements: 4 years of financial accounting and reporting experience; experience with percentage completion is a plus Strong accounting knowledge of ASPE or IFRS, including consolidations and foreign exchange. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerBI is an asset.
An inquisitive nature with strong attention to detail and an aptitude for critical thinking and problem-solving. Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other related fields. Professional Accountant, CPA designation.
