Purpose
This role supports the core site finance processes including cost analysis, financial and government reporting, and budgeting / forecasting. Specific tasks may include preparation and review of monthly departmental cost and capital reports, bank reconciliations, monthly and yearly government statistical and tax reporting, providing investment analysis support to operating departments, and accrual analysis, compliance requirements, statistical input and review, and budgeting / forecasting support. You will also promote Discovery values and ensure compliance and enforcement of its rules and business principles
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze site financial statements and strongly support operational departments with cost management and financial planning
- Participate in the monthly / yearly forecasting and budgeting processes, in collaboration with the mine site departments
- Review and support Financial Analysts with the preparation of cost analysis reports
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Support finance team in maintaining internal controls and compliance reporting.
- Ensure that all provincial, federal, legal, corporate, and professional regulations and standards are met
- Respect, know and promote company regulations and policies, particularly with regards to health and safety
Training and Education
- University degree in Business or Accounting required
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) is preferable
- Minimum of 5 years accounting experience preferably in an industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, concepts and financial systems
- Ability to solve problems and think critically
- Advanced computer skills with expertise in spreadsheets and Microsoft Office suite
- Strong communications skills (verbal, written, listening)
- Well-organized with the ability to meet tight deadlines and demands
- SAP or D365 F&O experience would be an asset
