Job Description The Senior People & Culture Business Partner (Senior Business Partner) is focused on building strategic alignment across the organization and ensuring alignment in our people practices.
In this position, you will focus on delivering people programs and practices that further the AESO’s strategy and create meaningful employee experiences that align with our AESO cultural traits. To be successful in this position, you must understand AESO’s business priorities in relation to strategy and translate these into actionable high impact work. As a trusted partner, you understand the business strategy and can collaborate and influence leaders and provide insight into organizational needs and talent priorities. Reporting to the Manager, Talent & Inclusion, you develop strategies focused on talent management (performance management, succession planning, compensation, workforce planning, engagement) and organizational effectiveness.
This position is integral in delivering and implementing our people initiatives, by providing value as a strategic advisor and engaging in cross-functional team collaborations. Accountabilities include: Act as the primary point of contact for business leaders and employees for all People & Culture related needs. Drive strategic alignment through collaborating with business leaders to understand their objectives and aligning people and culture strategies to support their objectives.
Provide expertise and coach leaders in managing highly sensitive employee relations to facilitate leader competency and self-sufficiency. Proactively investigate and recommend resolutions to key issues and concerns affecting our business and its people. Participate in business leadership meetings to offer thought leadership in strategic planning on talent, delivery of objectives, and culture transformation. Partner with business leaders to evolve organization structure and talent strategies in response to changing business needs.
Interpret people data to discuss insights and trends with leadership to enable data-informed decisions. Be instrumental in delivering people and culture programs and ensure they are adopted by the organization. Lead annual people programs (e.g., talent reviews, compensation planning). Consult with employees and leaders on People & Culture policies, standards, practices, and tools.
Partner with the Talent Acquisition Partner to implement effective talent strategies that will enable business and workforce strategies. Be an AESO brand ambassador and promote the employee experience both internally and externally. Collaborate cross-functionally within the People & Culture teams to accelerate high performance and value-added outcomes. You have: 10 years of experience in a strategic business partner role.
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or a related field. CPHR or working towards designation is preferred. An active listener that can build and sustain authentic relationships. Demonstrates initiative, critical thinking, problem solving and strong judgement.
Able to work independently, is open and approachable, and has a growth mindset. Thrives in an accelerated environment, able to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Able to demonstrate flexibility, agility in day-to-day work, high levels of integrity and confidentiality. Capable implementing scalable solutions that consider employee experience and change considerations.
Communicates with impact and credibility, including clear and succinct writing to various audiences. Knowledge and application of provincial and federal employment legislation. Experience with Workday system preferred.
