Working Business Language: English. This role is considered a head-office role and will require communication with internal stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language utilized is English.
Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $100,000- $130,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
The Senior Risk & Controls Data Analyst is a key contributor in Wawanesa’s second line Monitoring and Testing (M&T) team. Working under minimal supervision, this role is responsible for supporting governance and oversight activities using a data‑driven and technology‑enabled approach. The role leads the development of data extraction, transformation, descriptive analytics, diagnostic analytics, and data automation to monitor key risks, assess compliance, and automate testing activities at Wawanesa and its subsidiaries across the enterprise risk management and regulatory compliance management frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Leads the research, extracting, and manipulation of complex and large volumes of data from relevant sources
- Assesses data quality to evaluate impact on controls, and identify improvement opportunities
- Synthesizes data to support assessing regulatory risk and identifying potential risks and areas of non‑compliance
- Performs complex analytics to support compliance risk assessments
- Collaborates with internal team members and cross‑functional stakeholders, and leads data literacy skills improvement with colleagues within Risk and Compliance on analysis and refinement of analytics results
- Develops and maintains right‑sized internal documentation with high quality
- Presents analytic results to stakeholders including Senior Management through development of impactful dashboards and visualisation
- Leads data analytics and automation initiatives within the M&T team
- Mentors team members and supervises analytics performed by others
- Challenges the status quo andumeur pursuits continuous improvement opportunities
- Develops and maintains graded relationships with stakeholders, and contributes to data communities of interest and working groups
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information

Qualifications
- Post‑secondary degree with a preference for a combination of technical and business study (such as management information systems)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a data‑related role, such as data analytics, data management, or other data‑related equivalent background, with increasing responsibilities
- Exceptional ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for presenting complex data insights and foresights
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and demonstrable experience with database systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Redshift is required
- Experience with data visualisation tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik is required
- Experience with programming languages such as Python is required
- Experience with reporting tools such as MicroStrategy, Cognos, or SSRS is considered an asset
- čni Experience with the AWS cloud environment and relevant tools (Athena, Glue, Lambda, S3) is considered an asset
- Experience with low‑code automation systems, such as Power Automate is considered an asset
- Experience in P&C/Life insurance or financial services is considered an asset
- Bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an desenvolup; asset
