YOUR ROLE
The Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) is responsible for technical management, support, and oversight of the day-to-day IT operations as it relates to on-premises, Cloud and remote/branch office infrastructure. Emphasis on design and optimization to create efficient, scalable, and secure solutions supporting the organizations objectives.
You’ll work with a team of dedicated IT professionals to help solve day-to-day issues as well as to plan and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement infrastructure initiatives. Overall, this specific role will have a focus with intent to be the primary subject matter expert supporting the networking requirements and a contributor for Cloud/Infrastructure systems for the GroupHEALTH Family of Companies.
This is a hybrid opportunity out of our Surrey, BC offices.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Gain an overall understanding of our IT Operations environment including on-premises and Cloud implementations. Work with colleagues to continue on-prem to cloud migrations. Contribute to any in-flight projects or initiatives. Review network diagrams and deliver updated revisions. Review and update/optimize network including configurations and monitoring YOUR IMPACT
You will be the primary subject matter expert of LAN/WAN/MPLS/VPN/WIFI connectivity and overall health and performance of network. Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure with emphasis on Network health and high availability. You handle firmware and security updates/patches related to Infrastructure devices You complete network configuration optimization including high availability and redundancy. You install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools You proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability You monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes You assist in managing, planning, implementing and maintaining Network, Security and Backup strategies. You write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks You participate in the design of information and operational support systems You provide 2nd and 3rd level support to on and off-site employees You maintain, manage and prioritize Help Desk queues and tasks You assist in managing and planning projects with the help from Project Manager and senior IT members and leaders You provide infrastructure support during development releases You provide infrastructure support/recommendations for business projects You create documentation for end-users and co-workers You mentor junior staff and helping their career development THIS IS YOU
Advanced experience with Cloud networking, specifically Azure & AWS including but not limited to Azure Gateways, VNets, subnets, routing, VPN tunnels. Expert experience deploying and maintaining firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, network policy servers in a datacenter and HQ/branch office setup. Advanced experience with auditing, deploying and maintaining firewall policies. Advanced experience with Palo Alto 3200 series, 220 series firewalls Advanced experience with Cisco 2960-X, 2960-S/X, 3750-X, 9200L series switches, 2500 series Wi-Fi controllers and Cisco 9120AX, Aironet 2600 series Wi-Fi Advanced experience with Aruba 3800 series switching Advanced experience with Ubiquity EdgeRouter, UAP-AC-Pro Wi-Fi Intermediate experience with Azure and AWS including virtual machines, compute, backup/recovery, replication, load balancing. Security experience protecting and hardening assets, certificates, protocols and exchanges. Certificate or Diploma in a related field or equivalent industry experience 8+ years of progressive experience in a Network/IT Operations Administrator role (minimum) Experience with Office 365 Administration (tenant, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting Linux and Windows Operating Systems Experience with Virtualization technologies, VMWare, Hyper-V, in a live production environment; including public cloud. Experience with VOIP networks specifically Cisco Advanced Experience with Active Directory (including Entra AD), Intune, Group Policy. WHAT YOU’LL GET

At the time of this posting, the estimated pay range for this position is $85,000-$95,000.
Individual compensation within this range is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and education/training. This range reflects the base pay and does not encompass our comprehensive total rewards, benefits, and potential bonuses that we proudly offer.
