Our Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is part of the EA SPORTS Technology organization, focusing on identifying and creating new, scalable technologies for game teams. We are looking for close collaboration with game teams, central art teams, and the Frostbite engine team; though the technologies developed can apply to many different engines, environments, and hardware platforms. You will work on our strategic, multi-year projects focused on improved creation pipelines and runtime functionality, both users facing and internal, for all EA SPORTS titles.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Technical Artist (TA), you will be heavily involved in the Sports Technology Character Initiatives that the ATG team is currently developing. The main areas of responsibilities include development of technical prototypes in a data-driven game engine, asset integration/optimization, content production tools, pipelines, and workflows. TAs are expected to assume ownership over any technical issues that arise on their projects and bring them to resolution. ATG Technical Artists work closely with Software Engineers (ATG and Frostbite engine), the Character Content team and our EA SPORTS GameTeam partners, to help ingest and hookup the content needed for our Character Initiatives.

Your Qualifications:

  • At least 5+ years of cinematic/games production experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field.
  • Effective at communicating with different audiences: artists, engineers, managers.
  • Experience working and prototyping in data-driven game engines.
  • Proficient scripting/programming in Python or C#. (C++ is a bonus, but is not required).
  • Experience with 2D/3D art packages such as Maya, Substance, Photoshop, Houdini.
  • A solutions-provider, especially as it pertains to testing and debugging technical issues.
  • Experience with asset optimization challenges/techniques.
  • A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems to resolve technical challenges and limitations.

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):

º $93,700 – $143,700 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
