The Opportunity:
We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Senior Technologist, Job Captain to join our Vancouver team. Our office is engaged in a diverse portfolio of exciting projects spanning commercial, mixed-use, retail, industrial, hospitality, public buildings, and healthcare. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Project Managers to deliver high-quality documentation that brings projects from initial concept through to completion. Working independently or as part of a production team, you’ll take ownership of the accuracy, quality, completeness, and timeliness of drawing packages. You’ll also play a key mentorship role—guiding less experienced colleagues, sharing your expertise, and helping to solve complex technical and production challenges.
Here's what you’ll be doing at Kasian:
Regional
- Participate with and assist the Production Team Lead in collaboration with other Job Captains to create a culture of DD and CD excellence
Project Specific
- Assist the Project Manager in developing a work plan and schedule, and generate a consistent production work plan
- Assist the Project Architect and/or Project Manager to provide early input to the design team during concept and schematic design phases
- Lead, motivate, and manage project teams to produce successful construction documentation and ensure appropriate team member utilization and growth potential
- Collaborate with the Project Architect to ensure that the design intent is consistently maintained throughout the DD and CD stages
- Provide continuous leadership to the DD and CD team members on the project
- Assist the Project Manager with setting up and implementing a document control and communication plan
- Prepare, maintain, and evolve cartoon work sets
- Coordinate drawing production to accommodate the required tender packages
- Assist the Project Manager in reporting and reviewing project status
- Continuously coordinate, delegate, manage, and monitor work undertaken by production team members
- Coordinate work with outside consultants
- Coordinate documents with specifications
- Assist the Project Manager with and attend regular project meetings with the client and consultants, and/or contractors
- Organize and coordinate regular meetings with production team members
- Actively initiate/generate, review, evolve and approve appropriate technical detailing
- Conduct or coordinate all applicable building code compliance/coordinate research with suppliers or industry representatives/implement and coordinate Quality Control procedures/assist the Project Manager and /or Construction Administrator with bidding/negotiation/assist the Project Manager and/or Construction Administrator during the construction phase
Here is what you bring to Kasian:
- Minimum 8-10 years of local experience as an architectural technologist
- Proven expertise in building envelope detailing, ability to resolve complex junctions and ensure constructability and performance
- Strong background in developing full building permit and construction drawing sets
- Skilled at working drawing production and quality control of technical documents
- Advanced Revit proficiency, including model management and documentation workflows
- Ability to lead teams of junior technologists and designers, mentoring and ensuring quality standards are met
- Experience coordinating with consultants across disciplines to deliver fully integrated drawing packages
- Familiarity with tendering phase requirements, reviewing documents, and supporting bid processes
- Strong eye for detailing and technical precision, with a focus on constructability and building code compliance
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and thoroughness
Salary starts at $90,000+ per annum, based on a 40-hour work week. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, and skill set.
