Position Overview:
BigGeo is looking for a Senior UI Designer to lead the visual design and front-end cohesion of our geospatial intelligence platform. This is a hands-on role ideal for a design leader who thrives in high-growth, fast-paced environments and can translate complex data into accessible, elegant user interfaces. As a senior member of our product team, you will own the UI layer, guide visual standards, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive clarity, usability, and consistency across our digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead UI execution across web applications, dashboards, and tools, with a focus on clarity, data visualization, and responsiveness.
- Translate product requirements and user journeys into polished interfaces using Figma and a robust design system.
- Build and maintain scalable design systems that support rapid development and a consistent product experience.
- Create interactive prototypes to communicate design decisions to product, engineering, and leadership stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Product Owners, Front-End Developers, and QA to ensure pixel-perfect implementation.
- Conduct visual QA during development sprints to maintain design integrity through production.
- Collaborate with the UX and Data teams to simplify complex spatial data visualizations into intuitive UI components.
- Provide mentorship to junior designers and uphold design best practices across teams.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in UI design with a strong portfolio of responsive web applications.
- Mastery of Figma for component creation, prototyping, and collaborative workflows.
- Solid understanding of creating and maintaining design systems, accessibility standards, and responsive design principles.
- Experience working with technical teams on complex B2B or SaaS products (experience with mapping, geospatial, or data-heavy products is a bonus).
- Familiarity with Material Design, Tailwind, or other modern UI frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to translate abstract concepts into clean, functional UI designs.
- Strong working knowledge of CSS and how design decisions impact front-end development.
- Comfortable participating in design reviews, providing critique, and driving design quality.
- Experience working in Agile environments and contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives.
- Strong communication skills-both written and verbal.
- Experience with data visualization tools, spatial data interfaces, or location-based platforms.
- Exposure to frontend implementation tools or libraries (React, D3.js, etc.).
- Understanding of AI/ML product interfaces or dashboards.
