We are currently recruiting for a Service & Warranty Technician!

This is a full-time position.



Summary:

Reporting to the Service & Warranty Manager, the Service & Warranty Technician implements Trico Homes warranty systems and provides consistent service for our customers by encouraging good communication, clear follow-up, and consistent work habits that will result in a positive company image and foster repeat referral customers.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that appropriate sales goals are developed and achieved;
  • Fulfills all warranty obligations under the terms of the limited warranty;
  • Meets with homeowners to assess their concerns;
  • Meets with the homeowner if interim service requests are called or faxed into the office and the homeowner’s concerns are not clear and precise;
  • Repairs any warranty items that will incur a cost to the company;
  • Attends trade days to ensure work is completed;
  • Repairs regular maintenance items noted at the visits with the homeowner
  • Assists the construction department when directed by the Service & Warranty Manager;
  • Supplies vehicle with the proper material/equipment needed to complete work at the first scheduled appointment;
  • Ensures vehicle is clean and organized;
  • Responds to all Show home concerns
  • Adheres to the safety codes as per the occupational health and safety guidelines


Follow-up

  • Responds promptly and courteously (within 24 hours) to all the homeowners’ phone calls making any necessary notes and communicating their intention to the homeowner and the office of service work to be completed;
  • Checks email daily and responds to all staff and homeowner concerns within 24 hours;
  • Contacts trades if an emergency work order requires immediate attention and your assistance is necessary;
  • Manages special service situations effectively: roof leaks, wet basements, window leaks structural repairs, etc.;
  • Submits all work orders to the service coordinators with follow-up notes after trades day is complete.

Scheduled appointments

  • Meeting homeowners as per the scheduled appointments. If you are running late a phone call must be made 5 minutes before the scheduled time – no exceptions;
  • Showing up at scheduled appointments with any necessary information needed;
  • Listens carefully to the homeowner’s concerns and views;
  • Conducts a fair and objective view of all the facts and circumstances;
  • Objectively analyze warranty concerns to determine appropriate responses;
  • Communicates and documents service denials to homeowners, including explanations and informational assistance;
  • Provide detailed paperwork to the office noting all homeowners’ concerns and communicating Trico Home’s intention;
  • Confirming a trades day with the customer before leaving your scheduled appointment (unless the homeowner suggests calling the office with a date).


Construction

  • Provide the construction department with assistance if necessary to provide a zero deficiency home;
  • Conducts Customer Orientation/Possession appointments
  • Cooperate with construction to utilize in-house personnel efficiently;
  • Identify recurring warranty items and work with construction and trade personnel to eliminate those that can be reasonably eliminated.

Working Conditions

  • 8 am – 5 pm, scheduled appointments are booked between 8 am – 4 pm. If a scheduled appointment is not booked for 8 am, you will be required to be at the office;
  • Some Saturday and evening appointments may be necessary;
  • Required to be part of the after-hour on-call rotation schedule.


Qualifications:

  • College diploma in an appropriate construction-related field;
  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a Service Technician in new home construction with a warranty-related background;
  • A comprehensive understanding of construction fundamentals and the construction process;
  • A current (within 6 months) Police Clearance Screening is required upon hire;
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with tools for repairing all aspects of the home;
  • Strong customer service background and positive attitude;
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills both verbal and written;
  • Highly organized;
  • Team oriented individual.
