We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to fill a key position as Software Engineering Manager at our Vancouver, BC office . The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the technical team/s of engineers and supporting architecture direction and development for the ecommerce tech stack. The successful candidate will refine best practices and processes to ensure the team produces high-quality, scalable code to enhance the All New WineDirect platform experience.

Working within the engineering team solving development problems and working cross-functionally to align the technology roadmap with business requirements are of great importance to you. Your leadership will help those around you be successful through a combination of technical acumen, hands-on leadership, and people growth & development. What you’ll be doing: Architect and design scalable cloud-native services and infrastructure deployed in AWS.

Leading a team of engineers on scaling WineDirect’s ecommerce platform. Providing oversight, accountability, and leadership for technical decisions. Design reference implementations and PoCs that engineers use to pattern the production code base.

Deliver across the entire software app development lifecycle—design, build, deploy, test, and release. Peer-reviewing code and mentoring and supporting junior team members. Build strong partnerships with other teams internally and externally to solve problems, and ensure we deliver a cohesive customer experience.

Other duties as assigned Who you are: Candidates must possess highly developed sense of empathy, with a focus on ensuring the best experience for our partners, clients, and the end-consumer. 5 years experience of software developer experience in distributed systems or cloud-based solutions. 2 years leading engineering teams. Proficient in Ruby on Rails, Go, Java, C++ or Python. Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

Guru of micro-services architecture, domain modelling and RESTful APIs.
