AltaGas – Sr Analyst, Corporate Development and Investor Relations
As a key member of the Investor Relations and Corporate Development team, the Senior Analyst position will gain valuable exposure to the strategic decision-making process, from planning to executing to communicating the strategy to our stakeholders. The Senior Analyst will play an integral role in helping facilitate AltaGas’ sustainable growth and shareholder value creation initiatives, through a unique opportunity that offers in-depth experience in two important finance business functions. The Senior Analyst is expected to support and maintain our investor relations framework and products. The individual will also help support the evaluation of a range of corporate initiatives, including acquisitions and divestitures, organic expansions, and other investment opportunities. This opportunity should appeal to anyone seeking to advance their careers in finance and capital markets, working in a cross-functional role and gaining meaningful exposure to the Midstream and Utilities industries.
You Will:
- Help develop quarterly disclosure materials, including press releases, presentations, conference call scripts, corporate messaging, and Q&A documents for Senior Management.
- Support shareholder and research analyst engagements with scheduling, material preparation and attend select investor and research analyst meetings on a periodic and progressive basis.
- Support valuation and investment analysis on major transactions and communicate recommendations and conclusions to AltaGas Senior Management and Board of Directors.
- Assist with transaction due diligence and facilitating discussions with key internal and external experts.
- Support senior management in the development of the annual Strategic Plan for all business segments.
- Work cross-functionally with Midstream, Utilities, Finance, Corporate Communications, Treasury, Tax, Accounting, Human Resources teams within the organization.
- Provide a supporting role in complex problem solving on major projects that require company-wide coordination.
- Manage highly confidential information on a need-to-know basis in an efficient manner.
- Contribute to the preparation of presentation materials for AltaGas’ senior management and Board of Directors.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a finance or accounting focus preferred.
- 3+ Years of work experience, including time spent in fast-paced and demanding roles with cross-team organization and coordination.
- Financial-related designation (i.e., CFA, CPA) or master’s level university is considered an asset but not required.
- Experience in capital markets would be considered a strong asset.
- Excellent financial analysis skills and the ability to achieve timely and focused analytical conclusions.
- Possess a strong understanding of energy markets across North America.
- Detailed finance knowledge and expertise in Microsoft applications (Excel and PowerPoint).
- Ability to think independently, critically, and analytically while maintaining macro and micro-level perspectives.
