Sr. Electrical Engineer

MacDonald Search Group has been asked by our multidisciplinary engineering client to find a first class Electrical Engineer to join their team in Kingston, Ontario. The primary responsibility of this role will be to lead the planning, design, execution, and delivery of electrical engineering projects while providing mentorship to junior staff, ensuring code compliance, and upholding a high standard of technical excellence and client satisfaction.

Some of what you will do in this role includes:

• Lead and manage electrical design projects from concept to completion, acting as Project Manager on single-discipline assignments.
• Create and review system layouts, calculations, and electrical plans ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client needs.
• Collaborate with internal departments, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders including architects and contractors.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, and contribute to team development and internal initiatives.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and client meetings to monitor construction progress and ensure design intent is met.
• Write proposals, technical reports, project abstracts, and functional service documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers to support schedule, budget, and scope alignment across projects.

You should have the following in your background to apply:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a P.Eng. designation in Ontario.
• Several years of electrical engineering experience, including leadership or mentorship responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of building services, construction processes, and land development.
• Expert knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and electrical systems design.
• Experience with contract administration is considered an asset.
• Proven communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to think critically, lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and maintain client satisfaction.
• Comfortable conducting site visits and interfacing with clients and contractors.
• Committed to continuous learning and professional growth.
