JOB OVERVIEW 


Reporting to the Executive Director, Leadership Giving (BC), the Senior Manager, Leadership Giving will build a sustainable major gifts program, raising funds to support vital mission priorities of the Canadian Cancer Society in with the a particular focus in the Greater Vancouver Region. In collaboration with other members of the Leadership Giving Team, this role supports the growth of the British Columbia and Prairie’s fundraising portfolio – in the area of major gifts (gifts over $25,000 This role will personally managing a portfolio of 150 prospects and donors and will have an annual revenue target of between $500,000 – $1,000,000. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING 



1.Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors.

  • Develops and implements strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual major gift donors.
  • Develops and manages a pipeline of key accounts using moves management to track and attain activity metrics. 
  • Conducts prospect research and analysis, generates proposals, fundraising materials, reports and other related communications. 
  • Works with major gift support roles including researchers and writers as required. 
  • Solicits current and prospective donors to secure funding support for CCS priority projects both nationally and in Western Canada. 
  • Ensures appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgement, and stewardship. 

  • 2. Account management

  • Develops and manages a minimum of 100-150 key accounts. 
  • Manages a portfolio of major gifts prospects (individuals) and personally conducts cultivation visits, solicitation calls, and stewardship activities to meet revenue budgets. 
  • Maintains accurate records of donors, prospects using and inputting in Salesforce database. 
  • Regularly tracks and analyzes key activity metrics against benchmarks. 
  • Prepares and closes on major gift solicitations ($10,000+). 
  • Collaborates and works closely with colleagues across the region and country. 

  • 3. Engage in the planning Process


  • Works with cross-functional partners to anticipate linkages in annual plans to ensure that required resources/deliverables are integrated and supported across CCS teams. 
  • Actively contributes to Leadership Giving Team initiatives to achieve fundraising targets and deliver on department priorities. 
  • Provides leadership and support to senior leadership volunteers supporting major gift program development. 
  • Provides timely and relevant information for the Executive Director, Leadership Giving (BC) regarding Major Gifts activity. 
  • Attends meetings as required. 
  • Represents CCS with passion and professionalism. 
  • Performs other related duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. 
  • At least 7+ years of frontline fundraising or related experience is required.
  • 6 to 8 years of experience managing a major gift pipeline with demonstrated success raising funds. 
  • Experience in managing and engaging leadership volunteers and leveraging their networks. 
  • Strong track record of securing individual major gifts in a complex not-for-profit organization. 
  • Experience using donor database management tools such as Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce. 
  • Must have access to a vehicle as travel is required. 
  • Proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin is considered an asset. 
  • CFRE designation is preferred. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; communicate with technical and non-technical users
  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment 
  • Demonstrated relational and leadership skills necessary to engage internal stakeholders to help foster a culture of major gifts philanthropy. 
  • Strong relationship management skills.

    Interacts comfortably and successfully with a variety of stakeholders (staff, volunteers, donors, general public), individually and in a group. 
  • Developed communication and presentation skills, professional and demonstrates a high degree of integrity and discretion.
