Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Structural Designer to join their team in Vancouver, BC on a permanent basis. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work with a leading company specializing in hydro and mining projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and supporting large-scale projects.
Further Responsibilities Include:
- Developing and drafting structural designs, layouts, and details for hydro and mining facilities using AutoCAD 3D, REVIT, and/or TEKLA.
- Supporting the engineering team in the design of critical infrastructure, including dams, tunnels, powerhouses, conveyors, and processing plants.
- Preparing design models, drawings, and documentation tailored to the unique requirements of hydro and mining projects.
- Ensuring all designs comply with relevant codes, industry standards, and project specifications specific to hydroelectric and mining facilities.
- Conducting structural analyses and load calculations for heavy equipment foundations, retaining walls, and other complex structures.
- Collaborating with architects, engineers, and CAD designers to create detailed and accurate project documentation.
- Performing quality assurance checks, design reviews, and model checks to ensure safety and compliance standards are met.
- Supporting construction activities by addressing design-related questions, resolving issues, and conducting site visits as needed.
- Assisting in project planning, scheduling, and milestone tracking to maintain project timelines and budgets.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in structural design, with a focus on hydroelectric or mining projects preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D, REVIT, and/or TEKLA is essential.
- Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations relevant to hydroelectric and mining infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, including load-bearing design and geotechnical considerations.
- Ability to conduct structural calculations, load assessments, and material specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in high-stakes project environments.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
