Supervisor – Warehouse & Logistics
The Opportunity
Altrad is currently in search of experienced Supervisors (Warehouse & Logistics) to become a vital part of our team at a prominent Construction Project situated in Kitimat, BC. This role entails a 14:7 roster (or 20:8 roster – depending on the point of hire), working 10 hours per day. Flights and accommodation will be provided for non-local candidates on a Full-Time/Fixed-Term Contract basis. As a Warehouse Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in Supervision, coordination, delegation and the schedule of activities within the warehouse crew. As a Supervisor, you will lead a team of warehouse/logistics personnel. Promoting effective processes with all project Warehouse and Logistical requirements.
- Supervise, coordinate, delegate and schedule the activities of workers
- Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety problems
- Participate in the disciplinary process including issuing verbal and written letters to employees for minor infractions
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities
- Ensure compliance with all Company policies as well as all federal and provincial regulations (i.e. Occupational Health & Safety Act, etc.)
- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
- Promote a team environment
- Provide information for production plans to ensure that production objectives are met
- Requisition materials and supplies
- Assist with training staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policy
- Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions
- Prepare production and other reports (i.e. employee efficiency statistics)
- Coordinate activities with other site leaders
Who do we want to hear from?
- Able to deal with competing material and logistical priorities and manage time appropriately.
- Managing various equipment maintenance, tracking equipment
- Supervise 8-12 warehousing and logistics personnel from fabrication and field distribution
- Maintaining positive working relationships with various internal parties such as Project Managers, Construction Managers, Supervisors and Foremen
- Supervisory experience and proven leadership skills.
- People oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients.
- A strong leader who can motivate and engage a team with demonstrated strength in working with highly complex groups.
- Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and time lines for project Warehouse and logistical requirements
- Proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of materials management software/databases.
- 10 years of previous Warehouse Supervision or Logistical experience
- Previous experience working with material in the Sandblasting, Insulation and fire proofing sector an asset but not essential
- Previous experience working on major construction projects within the Warehousing and logistics sector an asset
- Experience in laydown yard maintenance including snow removal
- Valid Telehandler/Zoom Boom certification
- Inventory experience
- 10 years minimum experience within a manufacturing, construction, or logistics environment
- Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel
- Experience generating documentation of inventory
- Organizational skills, and proven ability to meet deadlines
- Prior experience on Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) sites, is highly desirable.
- Demonstrate practical experience of Risk Management processes
- First Aid Qualification is desirable
