Systems Technician
Job Description
One of our clients, a major oil and gas company has tasked us with finding a skilled Systems Technician to join their team at Norman Wells. This is a site-based role focused primarily on maintenance work within facilities. The position operates on a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation with Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) from Edmonton, AB, and camp accommodations are provided.
Job Purpose
The Systems Technician is responsible for maintaining the Process Control & PI systems, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting short- and long-term strategy development for controls equipment. This role requires proficiency in multiple technical areas and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and administer Industrial Control Systems (ICSR) and ensure compliance.
- Steward Alarm Management Meetings and resolve follow-up items.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and uphold safety as the top priority.
- Support EMIT initiatives (hardware troubleshooting, cyber security, training laptop setup).
- Manage site radio system hardware and licenses; liaise with contract radio specialists.
- Attend monthly IT meetings and implement Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Update drawings (redlines) and close out SAP work orders.
- Assist planning group with job scoping and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Provide remote backup coverage for Cold Lake Systems during weekends or vacations.
- Support other trades (Instrumentation, Electrical) as qualified and workload allows.
- Communicate effectively with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and contractors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of process control systems and industrial networking.
- Familiarity with business practices, controls requirements, and contractor supervision.
- Experience with SAP and KPI stewardship.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience in oil and gas or industrial maintenance environments preferred.
