Teacher

TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Main teacher AND teacher assistant. Looking for a full time qualified Alberta licensed teacher to teach a home-school based group of kids currently between the ages of 4-7 and to continue on with the same group of kids until Grade 6. Looking for a teacher assistant to assist.

Group 1) Ages 4/5 Group 2) Ages 6/7 Curriculum goals: Alberta based curriculum Played based Montessori inspired approach Group 1 and 2 will have combined and separated activities each day – there will be 4-5 kids per age group. Individualized learning plans for each child based on their learning needs Weekly schedule will be created for the main teacher/teacher assistant to follow Position Details: Full time hours > Monday through Thursday 8 OR 9AM-2/3PM (TBA/negotiable) > Friday (early dismissal) for 8 OR 9AM – 12/1230PM (TBA/negotiable). Located in a private home in southwest Edmonton Salary to be negotiated based on position/experience Positions available: Position A) Main Teacher University degree required The role of the main teacher is to run the classroom and to organize activities/lessons based on the agreed upon curriculum.

The curriculum is based on the Alberta curriculum however will be tailored to the group of children registered. Create individualized lesson plans for each child tailored to their own learning needs. Provide updates and progress reports to parents Montessori certified is an asset Special needs certification is an asset Ability to teach other skills/hobbies such as cooking/baking, art, sports, etc is an asset.

Position B) Teacher Assistant The role of the teacher assistant is to help the main teacher with organizing activities/lessons as the main teacher sees fit. The teacher assistant is expected to assist with individualized lesson plans and update/progress reports as required. Montessori certified is an asset but not required Special needs certification is an asset Ability to teach other skills/hobbies such as cooking/baking, art, sports, etc is an asset.

Required for both positions: Canadian Citizenship Card or Certificate a valid Canadian passport a valid Permanent Resident Card a valid Canadian work permit issued without restriction Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (within the last 3 months prior to start date) Fluent in English CPR and First Aid trained Must have own transportation Additional roles/responsibilities to be discussed and agreed upon
