About the Role:
The Music Therapist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a music therapy program tailored to the specific needs of paediatric patients and their families. The Music Therapist works within Child Life Services and adheres to the professional standards of practice of the Canadian Association for Music Therapy, the College of Registered Psychotherapists, and patient‑ and family‑centred care principles.
What we offer:
- Rate of Pay: CA$46.79 per hour – CA$58.48 per hour
- Temporary Full‑time position
- Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
- Duration: up to May 2027

Non‑Union
As the ideal candidate, you have:
- Successful completion of a Master's Degree in Music Therapy
- Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) required
- Accredited or eligible for accreditation with the Canadian Association of Music Therapy required
- Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) preferred
- Registered Psychotherapist preferred
- Minimum one year recent, related experience
- Experience working with children as a Music Therapist in a health care setting and competence in areas of growth and development, play and family dynamics, interventions to support coping, interpersonal communication skills, observation and assessment skills in reactions of children and families to hospitalization and illness, and a basic understanding of children's illnesses
- Excellent or strong guitar and vocal skills
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family‑centred care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
