Our client is a dynamic and growing company with a multicultural workforce and a commitment to continuous improvement.

They are in the midst of implementing a new inventory system and are seeking a seasoned professional to help us streamline our yard and warehouse operations.

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Warehouse and Yard Manager to join their team. This hands-on role is crucial for managing the flow of materials, supervising yard personnel, and ensuring the efficient operation of our yard and warehouse. The ideal candidate will have a background in process improvement and a track record of leading and implementing change in a growing company.

Competitive wage: $85k – $95k salary (able to negotiate higher depending on experience)
Straight day shift: Mon – Fri 8-5pm (occasional Sat support as needed)
Bonus: end of season bonus based on company performance

Vacation: 3 weeks and a week off at Christmas

Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing:

* Oversee and manage the daily activities of 20 to 50 hourly yard personnel, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
* Work collaboratively with other supervisors to ensure seamless operations across the yard and warehouse.
* Manage the flow of materials in and out of the yard, ensuring all materials are spot-checked upon departure and accurately received.
* Oversee the overall flow of yard work, actively participating in loading trucks and working alongside the team when necessary.
* Handle the hiring, training, and, if necessary, termination of team members.

Lead and mentor lead hands/foremen who report directly to you.
* Lead the integration and implementation of new yard systems, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to new processes.
* Promote and uphold a culture of health and safety, ensuring compliance with all regulations and best practices.
* Maintain and control inventory by physically receiving stock and updating the ERP system. Conduct regular inventory counts and spot checks.
* Manage stock placement and organize the warehouse for optimal space utilization and efficiency.
* Participate in high-level meetings to provide insights and strategies for operational improvement and contribute to the company’s growth objectives.



Qualifications
What you bring:

Experience: 10-15 years of relevant experience in warehouse, yard, or construction management.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Excellent process improvement experience.

*Strong background in process improvement methodologies like Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen preferred
*Forklift certification (or ability to re-certify) required.
