Job Summary: The Warehouse Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the site with an elevated level of efficiency, continually searching to reduce costs and offer a superior level of service to customers. Maintains inventory by receiving, storing, and shipping product; securing warehouse; supervising staff.
Maintains a safe and productive work environment whereby the team has clear direction, goals, training, and accountability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accomplishes warehouse and organization mission by developing and tracking key KPIs relative to inventory accuracy, customer complaints, and the like. Ensures 100% adherence to the accuracy of shipping and receiving documents.
- Participates in decision-making processes involving warehouse/shipping issues such as labor planning and warehouse/shipping priorities.
- Clearly communicates job expectations and coaches employees. Sets the tone and expectations for daily activities using strong leadership skills and proper utilization of shift group leaders.
- Works closely with customer service to align resources to demand.
- Accomplishes warehouse human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicates job expectations; plans, monitors, and appraises job contributions; recommends compensation actions; adheres to policies and procedures; meets the highest safety standards; ensures safety processes and behaviors are consistently addressed and improved.
- Maintains storage area by organizing floor space; adheres to storage design principles; recommends improvements.
- Keeps equipment operating well by enforcing proper operation, training, and implementing suitable Operator level PMs.
- Aids in the warehousing of finished goods, inventory management, order picking, crating, and shipping of products as required.
- Measures and reports the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employee performance. Maintains item records, documents necessary information, and utilizes reports to project warehouse status.
- Identifies areas of improvement and establishes innovative or adjusts existing work procedures and practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required with some post-secondary education preferred.
- 3-5 years of management experience within a warehouse/DC.
- Highly effective supervisory skills and techniques.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and above-average organization skills.
- Ability to manage job-related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner.
- Experience with warehouse ERP/WMS software packages.
- Ability to take the lead with respect to the implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Ability to supervise and simultaneously work as a team player.
- Forklift licensed or willing to obtain one.
