We are currently accepting applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Wellness Coach to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year to support school programs in Tsuut’ina Nation (Chief Big Belly Middle School and Many Horses High School) . This is a term position with an Annual Schedule of 11.25 months with a requirement to work over July and August to support the Summer programming. Job Summary: The Wellness Coach provides addiction and mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth, and families.

Working as part of a team, this position develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that meets the objectives of the Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) in Schools Initiative. Delivery of programming involves classroom and small group work in schools and community settings, and focuses on increasing knowledge, building skills, and fostering abilities that enable others to better their own mental health and wellness. This role builds and maintains strong relationships with children, youth, and families, and act as “go to” mental health subject matter experts for students, staff, parents, and community partners.

They also assist with evaluation of activities and survey data collection. Some evening or weekend work may be required. Qualifications: This position requires a degree in the health or social sciences field (such as community health promotion & prevention, social work, nursing, early childhood development, public health, psychology) and who is knowledgeable about addiction and mental health services.

At least 2 years working experience in addiction and mental health, or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student considered). Experience with program planning and development using evidence-based practices, delivering programming and comfortable with public speaking. Knowledge of the local community and resources available.

Ability to maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of programs. Skills in developing and adapting mental health curriculum, lesson plans and activities for universal programming in schools. Proficient use in Excel and Canva is an asset.

Skilled in Microsoft Office programs and working knowledge of social media. Ability to work within the school context to determine mental health and wellness needs of the school community. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary setting and ability to demonstrate strong collaboration skills.

Must be willing to travel in Calgary and surrounding areas and have a clean, valid Alberta driver’s license. Available to work over July and August (schedule TBD). A reliable vehicle, auto insurance with a minimum $2,000,000.00 liability and driver’s license is required.
