Salary: $70,000 – $110,000 per year (based on experience)

As our team grows, we are looking for a skilled Environmental Specialist to support our Environmental division.

What You’ll Be Doing
Lead and develop Synergy’s wetland services division, including strategy, business development, and process improvement.
Act as a technical lead, guiding clients and internal teams on wetland-related projects.
Conduct wetland classification, function assessments, and hydrological monitoring in compliance with Alberta Wetland Policy and other regulations.
Prepare and review Wetland Assessment and Impact Reports (WAIR), Wetland Assessment and Impact Forms (WAIF), and ABWRET-A evaluations.
Provide regulatory expertise on Alberta’s Water Act, Fisheries Act, and other environmental policies.
Identify business development opportunities and work with leadership to expand wetland, aquatic, and environmental services.
Develop and refine internal methodologies, workflows, and service offerings to improve efficiency and quality.
Mentor and help build a high-performing team of junior biologists and wetland professionals.
Conduct wildlife, wetland, and aquatic assessments in a safe and efficient manner.
Liaise with on-site client representatives and regulatory agencies.
Analyze field data to develop environmental management and mitigation strategies.
Prepare technical reports, regulatory applications, and compliance documentation.
Establish and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high service quality and regulatory compliance.
Manage fieldwork schedules, logistics, and data collection to meet project deadlines.
Work independently and collaboratively to support the Environmental division.
What You Bring to the Team
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Land Reclamation, Forestry, or a related field.
Registered Professional Biologist (P.Biol.) or Agrologist (P.Ag.) designation (or eligibility to obtain).
Minimum 5 years of experience conducting environmental assessments.
Strong field identification and assessment skills with a passion for continued learning.
Experience with AER OneStop Land Use and Water Act Applications.
Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, or QGIS.
Solid understanding of industry standards, regulatory frameworks, and best practices.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Experience in environmental consulting.
Strong safety record and valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
Willingness to travel and work in remote field settings across Alberta BC and Saskatchewan.
Must be physically capable of performing field duties in various weather conditions.
